Vina del Mar, Chile
July 12, 2013 – We arrived at the coast and were pleased with the bed and breakfast that I found. It is a neat old house converted to a b&b. It is in a residential area…maybe not the best part of Vina del Mar, but we are pleased anyway.
It has been interesting attempting to communicate and playing charades with our hosts and the people that we come across in the city. Maybe I should have gone on to level 2 in Rosetta Stone….
There are dogs everywhere… They live and sustain themselves outside of restaurants…we even saw a poodle just kicking back on the top of the hood of a car. At night they constantly bark ..like in the movie 101 Dalmations… and the twilight bark…luckily, we are so tired that we have not noticed them and their constant barking.
Last night we chose to eat dinner at a restaurant called Tierra del Fuego. It was right on the water with the waves crashing right below us. We tried the traditional Chilean drink called a Pisco Sour. We have no idea what is was in this concoction, but I found it to be quite tasty…Wayne… not so much. It was refreshing and sweet, but my husband prefers a good scotch.
We walked all along the coastline of Vina del Mar and saw the casino, the Wulff castle and the people of the city who were very engaging and interesting. We felt safe and it was a beautiful and crisp winter night.

“No, no need to grill it, just slap it on the plate,” Wayne says.. ‘Yabba dabba do”

Nice rib rack pic. I have similar ones in Portugal in the 80’s.
Where has the time gone?

Wow, it looks beautiful there and your room seems really nice. Sharon you are so funny with level 2–maybe I should start with Hungarian and go right to level 2–if you move to Chili then I will move to Hungary for a year–oh, would love to do it. Have a great trip and keep us up to date. Love this communicating and pix.
